Weddell Seal – The Weddell Seal breeds in the fast ice region, where the ice is frozen fast to the shore. They keep air holes open in the ice with protruding teeth, and their lifespan is tied to their ability to keep air holes open. When their teeth wear out, they’re no longer able to survive.
