On Monday, February 11, 2013 nearly 100 MAPS members enjoyed landscape and wildlife photographer Jon Shaver for a drills and skills presentation. While viewing images from Jon we learned valuable practice techniques, North American big game wildlife behavior, and discovered new approaches to getting the best shots possible. “All too often when that perfect moment arrives, the shot is missed in one way or another. It’s time to get ready and be prepared BEFORE the big game begins!”
Originally from Northern Idaho, Jon is an independent photographer currently based in Chicago IL. For the past ten years he has been capturing wildlife and landscape images from the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, and the jungle of Chicago. His works have been displayed in several galleries and featured in numerous publications such as The Timberstand Gallery, Montana Trails Gallery, P.O.A.C., Keokee Books, Hagadone Directories, Calumet Focus Magazine, and The Best Photos and Photographers. In addition, he has worked with companies such as American Express Travel, Altour, Holland America, Koll, and writes and conducts seminars on a wide range of photography-related topics for the internationally recognized Calumet Photographic.
From capture to print, Jon’s images are designed to stand apart from more traditional photographs. “My intention is to create limited or one of a kind pieces of art that clients can connect with, pieces that will invoke a feeling or emotion within the viewer, and that they can then take with them as solely their own”.
