It was a warm, sunny day last Sunday at Starved Rock when 11 MAPS members and a guest arrived to hike through the Kaskaskia and Illinois Canyons. There was plenty to photograph with a few inches of snow on the ground, frozen streams, waterfalls and icefalls hanging from canyon walls. We worked up an appetite and stopped for lunched at the Starved Rock Lodge and were also able to view the annual Starved Rock Photo Exhibit. After lunch, we saved the best for last and went to St. Louis Canyon where we photographed a huge rim-to-floor icefall. It was a great outing!
