On Sunday, June 10, 2012 we visited Volo Bog State Natural Area in northeastern Illinois for a warm and steamy morning of bog photographic adventures. We were alerted to go to post #6 to find the Rose Pogonia Orchids in Bloom! Needless to say passage along the boardwalk was stalled for a while whilst our macro specialists captured the prize off the day; though numerous challenges caused much discussion on how the macro lens didn’t quite get it done so pull out the zoom…
The day included images of the water lilies at the observation deck, a few bird shots, prairie cone flowers and then off to Fratello’s for brunch, a cold drink and mainly air conditioning. A nice day of camaraderie for sure and thanks to all 18 of the hearty souls who attended. All agreed we would plan a return in the Fall. Please take some time to view a gallery of our day’s collection.
