May 2012 Photo Outing – Chicago Botanic Garden

Saturday, May 19, 2012, we went to the venerable Chicago Botanic Garden.  It was a absolutely a beautiful morning.  We met at the Visitor Center at 7:00 AM amid the throng

of workers and volunteers preparing for the day’s plant sale.  Once through the Visitor Center the group of 19 dispersed throughout the 300+ acres of various gardens.  The first stop for some was the Heritage Garden with its bubbling fountain surrounded by prepared beds in circular patterns.  The English Wall Garden seemed to be a favorite with the entire group.  Asters of all types, Columbine, and Bleeding Heart were just a few types of flowers that could be photographed in that small area.  The Japanese Garden is truly tranquil for those who take the time to ponder the wonders of manicured and purposefully placed flora.  Others walked the entire grounds to find that perfect scene and moment to capture the best photograph they could.

Below is a gallery of all of the pictures that were submitted by the attendees.

The group started wondering into the Visitor Center’s cafe to grab a bite to eat and commiserate about their finds.  The food was good;  the conversation was good; and even the staff was good enough to allow us to string a bunch of tables together so we could all be together.

Located at 1000 Lake Cook Road in Glencoe, IL, (Lat: 42.152339, Long:-87.786287) the Chicago Botanic Garden is located just
