MAPS Potluck Picnic/Photo Outing — July 22 A resounding success!

Mother nature cooperated and a cool breeze descended upon more than 50 MAPS members and guests (add one pesky squirrel to the list!) during the annual potluck picnic held at The Morton Arboretum’s Meadow Lake picnic area. The shaded picnic area provided a wonderful respite from the heat, and MAPS members provided awesome food that was enjoyed by all!

Mary Mehl and Cora Jacobs had tables set up with creative glass stands for folks to practice shooting through stained glass. Many members had never had the opportunity to try this technique and many expressed the desire to purchase some glass and try some of this more artistic style of shooting at home. Thanks to Mary and Cora for all their efforts to make this happen.

A photography scavenger hunt began and the Zen word challenge to find the perfect “alone” setting began! Don’t be surprised to find our furry friend in one of those shots! He was last seen vaulting 4 feet in a horizontal leap from a tree adjacent to the picnic tables!

As the sun settled in there were wonderful opportunities for some sunset shooting before the picnic wrapped up for the night. Thanks to all that attended and for all the food that was provided! We look forward to seeing everyone at next years’ picnic!
