MAPS members braved the traffic on the weekend expressways and Kennedy construction to meet up with Chris Smith at the University of Chicago. We gathered at Rockefeller Chapel and went from there. With Chris’s map in hand, we were able to pick out some favorite buildings to photograph. A lot of the interiors we wanted to access were closed in the evening; something to remember if you visit the campus. Building exteriors offered some unique opportunities, challenging all our nature photographers. During the evening, we went to Medici for a delicious dinner on the rooftop deck. Afterward, Chris walked us to some of his favorite after-dark spots and shared his secrets for successful night shooting. We stayed on the Quad until security kicked us out, and returned to photograph Rockefeller Chapel where we began the day’s journey.
