The MAPS outing to Captain Daniel Wright Forest Preserve in Mettawa was exceptional. By 8:15 the weather had cleared and we were able to enjoy a perfect morning among the beautiful trillium fields and wild flowers that simply carpeted the forest floor. We had members chasing owls, woodpeckers and blue jays. We saw reflections in ponds and patterns in the overflowing banks of the Des Plaines River. Each of the four trails offered something different. Everyone enjoyed this very special place!
