Upcoming MAPS Programs
May 31, 2023 – Dan Anderson – The Art of Landscape Photography Using a Drone
Drone photography is a new way of seeing and imagining the world as you explore. Like any new photographic tool, this new perspective of viewing the land is full of promise but demands fresh thinking and a new visualization of the entire concept of the landscape image from the start to the finished product. See Upcoming Programs for more information on this very special presentation.
June 12, 2023 – Don Hurzeler – Kilauea Eruptions and Rain Forest Recovery from Lava Flows
Don Hurzeler, a professional photographer, author, publisher, and gallery owner in Hawaii, will be discussing volcanic eruptions, lava flows, and the ways rain forests ultimately recover – all based on his personal experience on the Big Island of Hawaii. Using his photography he will explain the mechanics of lava flows, the destruction they can bring, and how plant life returns to lands claimed by the lava in surprising ways and with some amazing results. For some dramatic imagery and an important story, this is a not-to-be-missed program. For more information and samples of Don Hurzeler’s work, see Upcoming Programs.
We are taking a hybrid approach to our monthly programs. This means you can attend in-person or by using Zoom. The Zoom link is emailed to all MAPS members before every program. If you are new to Zoom, take a look at our Zoom web page. Most important: however you choose to participate, don’t pass up this great benefit of your MAPS membership.
If you are looking for past programs, go to Programs. This web page includes a write up and a few images from each monthly program. When possible, we also post a recording of the monthly program for a few months.
