Tuesday, November 3 – The Sanfilippo Estate, Barrington

Thank you to all who joined us for The Sanfilippo Estate Outing on November 3rd. What an experience! We thank the Sanfilippo Foundation for sharing the home and the Place de la Musique with the public. We were in awe as we moved from the main foyer into the various rooms viewing antiques, victrolas, orchestrions, coin pianos, stained glass chandeliers, lamps, figurines, beautiful woodwork and art. We were treated to music throughout but especially enjoyed hearing The Phantom of the Opera played on the world’s largest 8,000 pipe organ in the Music Theatre. We then moved on to the pavilions. One of our favorites was entering the Eden Palais Carousel Salon. It was breath taking with hundreds of lights, music and beautifully restored carousels. Other pavilions housed restored train cars, engines, and too many collectibles to list. Our experience was further enriched by the entertaining and informative docent tour led by Mr. Gregory Leifel. Lunch at Chessies in the railroad car was the perfect ending to a great day!
