A. BETWEEN MILE 3 and MILE 5 – WARRENVILLE / HERRICK LAKE FOREST PRESERVE / WILDLIFE

Herrick Lake Forest Preserve is home to an impressive variety of wildlife. Ecologists have recorded over 254 resident and migrant animal species among the preserve’s 470 different types of plants. Herrick Marsh lies in the middle of the forest preserve. Location: The main entrance is on the south side of Butterfield Road (Route 56) about two miles west of Naperville Road. Parking: The south parking lot is on the east side of Herrick Road 0.25 mile south of Butterfield Road. DETOUR: Go to the Herrick Lake Forest Preserve website and download a map with detour directions for the Butterfield Road construction project.

B. MILE 3 and MILE 5 – WARRENVILLE / WARRENVILLE GROVE FOREST PRESERVE / RIVER / WILDLIFE

The IPP runs through the Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve. Warrenville Grove’s rolling topography consists of floodplain and upland woodlands, natural fens, and a river. Its upland woodlands – some natural and some reforested – contain oak, maple and walnut species. The preserve’s fens – some natural and some in need of restoration — are delicate ecosystems containing rare vegetative species. A section of the West DuPage River flows through Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve. Location: The area is located south of Butterfield Road, east of Batavia Road and west of Winfield Road. Parking: Parking is available in 2012 ONLY from Winfield Road. The Batavia Road entrance is closed during construction. DETOUR: The west side of the Warrenville Grove Forest Preserve will be under construction through 2013.

C. BETWEEN MILE 4 and MILE 5 – WARRENVILLE /TOWN / RAILROAD

Location: Downtown Warrenville is bordered on the north by Butterfield Road, on the west by Warrenville Road, and on the east by Batavia Road. The IPP runs along the City of Warrenville – parallel with Strafford Place – and close to the Warrenville Public Library and City Hall. Parking: There are large parking lots south of the path near City Hall and the library.

D. BETWEEN MILE 7 and MILE 8 – INDUSTRIAL SEGMENT OF THE PATH / ROADS

This area shows a very industrial segment of the Path. Location: Just south of I-88 along Diehl Road. Parking: From Highway 59, go west on Diehl Road 1.1 miles. Turn left at Shore Road. There is a parking lot on the left
