IPP Geneva SpurA. MILE 3 – WINFIELD / INTERSECTION CROSSING

Location: The intersection at the junction of the Elgin Branch and the Geneva Spur is in Winfield, where County Farm Road crosses Geneva Road. It is a very challenging intersection due to the amount of bike and auto traffic. Parking: Parking is available along the northwest corner of County Farm Road and Geneva Road.

B. BETWEEN MILE 3 and 4 – WINFIELD MOUNDS FOREST PRESERVE / RIVER / PRAIRIE

Limestone trails at this site connect the Geneva Spur of the Illinois Prairie Path to the Winfield Mounds Forest Preserve. Within its 359 acres currently stands an undeveloped, natural area consisting of restored savannas, open fields and prairie, with the West Branch of the DuPage River flowing through it. Location: The forest preserve is located along Winfield Road south of Geneva Road. Parking: Parking is available on local streets.

C. BETWEEN MILE 5 and 6 – WEST CHICAGO / TOWN

Location: The Illinois Prairie Path goes right through downtown West Chicago, along Main Street, across Wilson Avenue, through Sesquicentennial Park, and past the city museum. Parking: Large parking lots are available near City Hall and the West Chicago Public Library. Also, a parking lot is available if you turn south on Wilson.

D. BETWEEN MILE 6 and MILE 8 – WEST CHICAGO PRAIRIE FOREST PRESERVE / REED-KEPPLER PARK / PRAIRIE / WILDLIFE

This 126-acre Truitt-Hoff Nature Preserve has historically contained vegetation from a section of moraines and related features from the Wisconsin Glacier. This remnant ecosystem has provided rare and specialized habitats to some 622 plant and animal species, several rare or endangered. Location: The forest preserve and park are just west of downtown West Chicago. Parking: Parking is located in the back of Reed-Keppler Park. Take Rt. 59, turn west to Washington Street in West Chicago. Go 0.5 mile to Arbor. Turn right on Arbor to National. Turn left into the parking lot .

E. MILE 11 – GOOD TEMPLAR PARK / FOX RIVER

This park is located at the very end of the Geneva Spur. It has a beautiful sugar maple forest. The park honors the early settlers from Sweden who helped develop Geneva. The Geneva Spur runs along Good Templar Park and ends at the Fox River where the Illinois Prairie Path connects with the Fox River Trail. Location: The park is located in Geneva along East Side Drive (528 Eastside Drive). Parking: There is an entrance to the park from Eastside Drive between Locust Avenue and Geneva Drive.
