Matthiessen State Park Waterfall Capture

Who doesn’t love photographing in the autumn? Why not join your fellow MAPS members on a photographic outing to Matthiessen State Park in Oglesby, Illinois?

Located along the Vermillion River in La Salle County, Matthiessen State Park is one of Illinois’ beautiful destinations and is a paradise featuring canyons, streams, a prairie, forest, and miles of trails.

Directions: We will meet in the Starved Rock Lodge parking lot. From Illinois 178, enter through the main entrance of the park and follow the signs that guide you up to the lodge.  MAPS Member Tim Patrick and Darcy Berg will be your guides. Look for his Blue Mazda CX-30. We will then travel over to the Lake Waterfall in Matthiessen State Park. We may also venture into the canyon to look for autumn colors based on the water level, weather and ground conditions.

There is a restaurant back at the Lodge if anyone would like to grab a bite to eat when we are finished taking photos. Link to lodge menus:

Please be sure to dress appropriately for the weather and walking during the outdoor photograph session. Polarizers and ND filters could come in handy.
