Basic Framing on a Budget
Sat, Mar 21, 2026 - 10:00 am-1:00 pm
Morton Arboretum Thornhill Center, Room B
Want to feel confident framing your photographs without spending a fortune? This workshop walks you step-by-step through a simple, practical framing process using affordable materials you likely already have—or can easily find at a craft store. You’re welcome to frame your own print during the workshop, or simply watch the demo. If you participate, you can leave with a finished framed image ready to hang or display.
What to Bring (Required — if you want to frame a print)
- Your photo print (or any piece of paper if you don’t have a print handy)
- A frame (preferably wood with a glass front)
- A mat that fits your frame + an opening that fits your image
- A clean rag and a bath towel
- Cotton gloves (if you have a pair)
Optional (Nice to Have)
- Paper & pencil for notes
- An open and inquisitive mind
Please Note This workshop is not a professional framing class. We’ll be demonstrating the budget-friendly method Mary Mehl and Potter use to frame images at home with simple, accessible supplies.
