Panoramic Photography I with Mark Segal

This is a two (2) session workshop with homework on Panoramic Photography. This workshop includes a lecture on the composition of panoramic photography and a demonstration of different panoramic cameras including film cameras. This is a hands-on workshop where everyone will create a panoramic photograph. There will be homework and a critique with a show and tell. Robert E. Potter, III will assist in teaching the workshop. The second session will take place on Sept 7th, same times, and location.

Difficulty level: Beginners, intermediate, and advanced students can all benefit from this workshop. Class size: Limited so sign up early. Register here.

What to Bring

  • Memory card for your camera – EMPTY & FORMATTED
  • Camera (with a charged battery)

Optional recommended equipment:

  • Tripod
  • Weather-appropriate clothing & hat
  • Long pants, socks, and bug/tick replant
  • Good walking shoes or boots

IMPORTANT

  • To participate in the hands-on portion of this workshop with critique you must have an empty formatted memory card for your camera and only shoot JPEGs.
  • CAUTION formatting your memory card will delete all images that are on it. If you don’t know how to save the images and format the memory card look it up in your camera manual or go to YouTube (or even easier go to Micro Center and buy a new Memory Card).
  • Charge your camera and your flash batteries ahead of time.

Instructor’s Bio – Mark Segal

Known for his wide perspectives, Mark Segal wins clients with his spirit and vision. He has built relationships and won awards for 35 years. Producing dynamic images of every location, Mark has worked closely with art directors and designers in 45 countries. Demand for his work arises from Mark’s constant pursuit of fresh, experimental ideas and his ability to interpret concepts into strong photography. Mark’s experience with digital cameras, lighting, and panoramic formats gives clients the freedom to make projects efficient and effective. 

In 1987 Mark founded Panoramic Images, a photo library devoted to licensing large-format imagery and representing 150 photographers worldwide.

In 1988 Mark founded SkyPan International, a digital video and 360 degree photography service that utilizes remote control helicopters.
