MAPS 3rd Annual Nature Photography Exhibit
The Morton Arboretum
May 2014

Our 3rd Annual MAPS Nature Photography Exhibit took place at The Morton Arboretum on Saturday, May 3rd & Sunday, May 4th, with the Artists’ Reception on Friday, May 2nd.  The reception on Friday evening was very well attended with over 250 visitors. A heart-warming tribute to Steven Mayer was held with his artwork on display and his family in attendance.

The exhibit on Saturday and Sunday brought in an additional 650 visitors with several hopeful buyers ready to acquire new artwork after the close of the exhibit. Our 68 exhibitors had 160 pieces of spectacular art on display. Diana Chrisman, Cora Jacobs, Christine Foley and Dulcey Lima did a great job hanging all the artwork, and their hard work paid off. Everyone who visited the exhibit remarked on the wonderful display.

We had many pieces of bin art and donated art for sale. Several artists were able to make arrangements for the sale of their bin art after the exhibit. Many thanks go to the artists that generously donated art which helped MAPS with our fundraising efforts. Our raffle ticket sales also helped a great deal. Raffle donations came from Tim Rex, Rod Planck, Bob Greene at DuPage Framing Center in Wheaton, Chris Aquino, Caribou Coffee in Downers Grove and The Growing Place in Naperville.  Thanks to all of our generous donors!

A great exhibit happens when many volunteers take the time to pitch in and help. Thanks go to our Referee Night helpers Tim Rex, Andy Dichter, Ann Stacy, Christine Foley, Kathy Leisten, Barb Work, Suzanne Wegener, Kate McGuire, Dulcey Lima, Lisa Sly, Greg Blue, Connie Wolf, Kate Lehman, Joan Bratton, Diana Chrisman, Cora Jacobs, Bill Miotek and Mary Mehl. Thanks to Andy & Sue Dichter for bringing the food trays on Friday and for taking pictures of the event. Thanks to Mary Mehl for putting together the slide show of members’ photo outing images and for Greg Blue for making the music possible. Thanks go to those who acted as our greeters and raffle table volunteers, Catherine Pawlik, Tim Rex, Hester Bury, Sherry Snyder, Judy Morgan, Dave Schooley, Tony Wedick, Dulcey Lima, Mary Claire Kastenholz, Hart Kannegiesser, Jim Rendant, Cheryl Rausch, Bob Sullivan, Carole Bovee, Ken Wickham, Mark Bates, Kevin & Linda Haynes, Donna Andrzejewski and Susan Schmitz.

And many, many thanks go to our clean-up crew, whose names are already listed, and who stayed and helped take down everything and put it all away. Thanks most of all to Suzanne Wegener for all her assistance leading up to and during the exhibit because without her help and support we couldn’t have done any of this. Thank you all!

We hope you’ll enjoy these images taken during the exhibit:
