All MAPS Photography Workshops

MAPS offers free workshops to expand our members' photographic knowledge and experience. These workshops are presented by MAPS members who generously donate their time and expertise and all MAPS members in good standing can sign up. Any notes and handouts from workshops are made available to all members through this website. See individual workshop listings for details.

You don’t need to be an expert to present at a workshop, just have a willingness to share some knowledge.  If you are interested in doing so, please contact Roger Mattingly.

  • If you’ve ever looked at a great photo and thought, “I wish mine looked like that,” this workshop is for you. You don’t need any editing experience at all—just a camera phone and a willingness to try a few new things.

  • This is the 2nd workshop in a series of Lightroom workshops scheduled every other month or so. We will work more with the develop Module and you will learn how to use the export tool.

  • Two award-winning internationally published photo journalists will share their secrets with you. MAPS very own Roger Mattingly & R. E. Potter III. If you want to do photojournalism you will need to sharpen your people picture skills because that’s what the client will expect.

  • This is the 1st workshop in a series of Lightroom workshops scheduled every other month or so. Introduction to how Lightroom Classic works - understanding the graphical user interface.

  • Robert E. Potter III's “Chair GUY” Tim will teach you how to choose the right chair!  There is no pressure to buy, but you will be amazed at the deals available. You will also be led in an exploration of composition and design, using your cell phone camera at the office furniture warehouse.

  • Robert E. Potter III will show you his favorite phone processing application that works on both Androids and iPhones. This (Snapped by Google) App is FREE so download and install it before class so you can do Hands-On photo processing. Available in the App Store and Google Play.

  • Mike Lake will walk us through his process of selecting an image, deciding what needs to be done, and working his post-production magic using Adobe Bridge, Photoshop and Topaz with a Wacom pressure sensitive tablet and saving it for specific output.

  • This workshop will take you step-by-step through the amateur framing process. Mary Mehl and Robert E. Potter III will show you what materials you’ll need and the fairly simple steps to get your print into a frame and ready for you to hang on your wall or to put into an exhibit.
