Photo Processing for Camera Phones

If you’ve ever looked at a great photo and thought, “I wish mine looked like that,” this workshop is for you. You don’t need any editing experience at all—just a camera phone and a willingness to try a few new things.

Photographer R. E. Potter III will introduce you to Snapseed, a powerful yet approachable free photo-editing app by Google that works on both Android and iPhone. Starting from the basics, you’ll learn how to:

  • Open and save photos safely so you don’t “lose” your originals
  • Make simple fixes like brightening, darkening, and correcting color
  • Crop and straighten to instantly improve your composition

Once everyone is comfortable with the basics, Potter will show some creative editing tricks that are still easy for beginners to follow, such as:

  • Using selective adjustments to brighten faces or key details
  • Adding subtle vignettes and contrast to make subjects pop
  • Trying a few of Snapseed’s filters and tools without overdoing it

You’ll work step-by-step on your own phone, with time to experiment and ask questions as you go. The goal is for you to leave feeling confident that you can improve almost any phone photo in just a few taps.

Important: Please download and install the FREE “Snapseed” app by Google before class.
Ignore any similar apps that try to charge a fee—there is no paid version required.
