Getting to Know Your Digital Camera with Roger Mattingly and Robert E. Potter III
Feb 2025
Get the most out of your digital camera by getting to know it. Find out what all those buttons and knobs do and learn how you can make better photographs. You will be amazed at how easy it is to tell your camera what to do instead of having it tell you what to do, or at least you’ll understand why the camera is doing what it’s doing when you’re pointing at something and pushing the shutter button.
What to Bring:
Memory card for your camera – Empty & Formatted
Camera (with charged battery)
A lens (one you like to use)
Camera instruction manual – download the PDF from the camera manufacturer to your laptop or tablet. If you have done this then please bring your laptop and or your tablet with you.
Optional recommended equipment:
An open and inquisitive mind. Paper and pencil for taking notes. USB thumb drive.
Tripod
IMPORTANT
- To participate in the hands-on portion of this workshop with critique you must have an empty formatted memory card for your camera and only shoot JPEGs during the workshop.
- CAUTION formatting your memory card will delete all images that are on it. If you don’t know how to save the images and format the memory card go to Micro Center and buy a new Memory Card just for the workshop.
- Charge your camera batteries ahead of time.
